Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Designs and develops truss systems for commercial and residential buildings. Create layouts and drawings for floor and roof plans by hand and with MiTek design software.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Design truss systems for commercial and residential buildings.
· Create layouts and drawings for floor and roof plans by hand and with MiTek design software.
· Discuss changes in designs with clients, architects, engineers, and other designers on the design team.
· Other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Design truss systems for commercial and residential buildings.
· Create layouts and drawings for floor and roof plans by hand and with MiTek design software.
· Discuss changes in designs with clients, architects, engineers, and other designers on the design team.
· Other duties as assigned by management.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 2 years’ experience designing utilizing MiTek and/or other design related software with a general knowledge of the construction industry.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
· Ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints.
· Strong math skills
· Ability to calculate tributary loads, concentrated loads and load transfer throughout building.
· Knowledge of current local codes associated with truss design (TPI).
· Ability to effectively communicate with architects, engineers, customers and team members (through email and verbally)
